The first Psalm written was Psalm 90, by Moses. The great prophet of the Lord prayed this prayer over the people of God as a petition and appeal to all of us to pray for and pursue a heart of wisdom.

Biblical lament is a prayer in pain that leads to trust. By looking at four key steps in the process of lament, our desire is to walk away better equipped to face our disappointments while deepening our faith in God’s goodness.

Psalm 63 helps us acknowledge the depth of our need (“thirst”) in order to appreciate the blessing of God’s provision.

Psalm 27 shows us three keys to fearless faith: 1) be confident in the Lord; 2) be committed to the Lord and 3) call on the Lord.

What do you do when it seems that the wicked win? Our world is full of injustice, including suffering and setbacks for Christians. Psalm 37 shows God’s promise of restoration. In the end the wicked will be uprooted and the righteous will be firmly planted. God will make right all that has gone wrong. In this promise is the personal reversal of all the evils that have plagued our lives. When it seems that the wicked win, we are to remember that ultimately we win in Christ! 

The Psalm describes three commitments to find blessing in the Lord: 1) ensure your closest friends are godly people; 2) treasure God’s Word and; 3) do the right thing. Then the promises of satisfaction, protection and vindication from the Lord will be fulfilled for you!
